Hi Stuart. I took the photos of the Robin with a Nikon digital SLR, the D40x. This model has been replaced by the essentially identical D60. The precursor, the D40, is also an excellent camera, and can be had for less money that quite a lot of the (shitty) compact digital cameras (around £200). More importantly, the lens I used was the cheap 55-200mm AFS DX VF (!!!) consumer zoom, which is an absolute cracker for the money. Check out this website for more info:

Thx Mike .I do have a Dig SLR a Canon D10 which I’ve had a few years and it cost a lot of cash at that time but I’m not inclined to drag it around fishing bcos of the weight so might need to get something more practical ..lol Thx for the info

No problem. The small Nikons (d40/d60) are as small as the dSLR’s get. With the kit lens (18-55, 28-80 equiv) they make a very nice little package. I now bring it along on some trips, packed into a waterproof camera bag. Probably still a bit too much hassle really, but why not. The small Pentax and Olympus waterproof cameras look very decent for the active fisherman.
